Stress and Insomnia

I have had insomnia since I was in my early twenty’s.  Last night I had one of those can’t sleep at all nights.  Luckily I don’t have them very often, but when I do they are a killer, the next day – ie today, I  feel tired, stressed and fragile.

When you don’t get enough sleep even the smallest things feel like huge mountains to climb.  I am sure you know what I mean, and tears seem to happen at the slightest upset.  It’s really not a fun way to be.  And we have enough to stress about without sleepless nights adding to our problems.

So I thought being a long time insomniac that it about time I did something about my insomnia.  So I thought I would start trying out some different things to see what helps me with my insomnia and then I will report back here and let you know what works for me and what doesn’t.

Anything I try will be natural, as I do not like drugs of any kind prescription or otherwise.

So today I am going to start with affirmations – as often as I can today I am going to say – “every night I sleep soundly for 8 hours and I wake up happy and refreshed” – or something along those lines.  I usually find when I say affirmations that they evolve with time and repetition.

So if any of you have any good suggestions for things that have worked for you I would love to hear them.  So just leave us a comment here.
